Mona Hatoum is a Palestinian exile who has been living in London since 1975. After studying at Slade School of Art she began making video and performance art. Her work deals with the contradictions of power and identity. Since the late 1980's, Hatoum has made large-scale environmental installations involving sculpture, video and sound. Mona Hatoum has exhibited throughout the world. She has recently had solo shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and at De Appel in Amsterdam. |
